"Today I am 4, tomorrow I will be 5...are they doing my ice cream...I'm going to dip these in ice cream!"

~Alessia while out for some birthday FRIES AND ICE CREAM!

January 25th, 2013 we get a call from my sister saying she fell up the stairs while chasing the dog and was worried about the baby.  She is going into the hospital but assumes she will be sent home in a few hours. A few hours later we were all heading to the hospital is witness the first child of mine and my sisters. It was now early morning on January 26th, two weeks before her due date and on my half birthday.  Our family has so many February birthdays so a January birthday was never even thought of!  This whole half birthday thing started an amazing bond between Aunt and Niece.

The morning was long. We were all up all night and my sister had been pushing for close to an hour at this point. I photographed this little head popping in and out. It was AMAZING to watch.  (If you have never watched a birth I highly recommend it!!!!) Tiredness washed away as excitement filled the air! Who was this little baby we were all about to meet. Finally Alessia was born.

At this point my sister was still in nursing school so Alessia spent a ton of time at my mom's house where I was also.  We spent so much time together. By the time she was two the aquarium was our favorite place to go. She loves to watch the Sea Lion show. As she got a little old we ventured out to some zoos and museums.  She even knew at three yrs old about Paris, the Eiffel tower, and the Mona Lisa. This girl is smart! OK fine I have been planting the travel bug in her since she was a baby.... but I digress, we were always doing something.

Check out my WEDNESDAY WITH ALESSIA posts on instagram. It's been a while since I have used that hashtag (I started posting only business/client related portraits) but the images are fun and so cute. We had so much fun the world was our playground.

This past year she started preschool as well as welcomed her twin sisters into her heart and her little cousin.  I don't see her as often. But the connection is still there. She is such a mini me it's crazy. So although we don't get to explore the world as much we still get to take amazing portraits.  This girl is my muse!! Every time I take her our to do portraits she amazes me. I can not imagine not having her close by.

Today I want to wish my smart, spunky, head strong, shy, creative, clever, optimistic peanut a very happy birthday.  (yes she is kinda my twin...) She knows what she wants and she is not afraid to say it.  One day we will be celebrating in Paris... As they say the days are long but the years are short. Cherishing every minute of your little years! Happy Birthday Peanut!!!! I love you xoxo
